Description of 11th Century Argolis Greek Church
One of my good friends and co-workers asked me if I would paint this ancient Greek church for his family. It is in the center of his family village in Greece. The area is called Argolis, which is where the Mycenaean empire began. His father’s village is called Neo Ireo. It’s about 7 miles from Argos, the oldest continuously inhabited town in Europe. It was such a privilege for me to work on this special project. I learned so much about how to paint “patina” on old stone, as well as the spiritual experience of painting such a special place.
