The dawn of a new era

My dad was born and raised in Fairview, Wyoming in the southwest portion of Star Valley. It was almost unbelievable to me when the announcement was made that a new LDS temple would soon be erected there.

I have been monitoring the construction for awhile now, contemplating how I could put my feelings about it on canvas. This scene is what I came up with … my dad as a young man on his horse at dawn marveling at the newly constructed temple … the dawn of a new era in Star Valley.

I have been asked to submit it to the LDS Church’s International Art Competition this year. I am flattered by the invitation … we’ll see if I have the courage to do so.
